We're moving! Last Friday we were handed the keys to our first house, a spacious condo with lots of light and a great view of the St. John's River. I am looking forward to feeling a sense of ownership and being settled (also, picking out paint colors and living on the first floor after three years of many stairs!).
I am also feeling a little sadness knowing that October is our last month of renting our current place. We've really enjoyed this two-story condo (with a fireplace we never lit). I'm worried that the space we are moving to won't feel as cozy, that our furniture won't fit well, and I'm worried that I'll choose clashing paint colors and the wrong kitchen countertops (did I mention that we're renovating the kitchen before moving in?). The overall feeling I have, though, is excitement for what's to come.
In looking around our house nostalgically already, I want to make the most of and enjoy our last few weeks here, so today I'm on a bit of a cleaning & tidying frenzy. The warm autumnal colors of pears are so appealing this time of year, so I placed several in a bowl on the table. It turns out that a bowl of fruit provides the same pretty effect as a vase of flowers on a room.
October, November, and December are three of my favorite months. I often feel like I come alive in the fall, and that the world around me is newly charming. I know that feeling isn't unique to me, which is nice to know that others feel the magic of autumn, too.
