This week I did a little closet clean-out and got rid of a few of my pieces that I knew Michael did not like. In general, I take his opinion to heart and that goes for clothes as well. Whenever I purchase a new shirt or pair of shoes - whatever it may be - I try it on and ask what he thinks before taking off the tags and throwing out the receipt. Sometimes I will even ask at two or three separate times because he's been known to change his mind. "What?! You said you liked this dress!"
I have been given the advice that I can and should have a few pieces in my wardrobe that I wear just for me, but I don't understand that. As soon as I know he doesn't care for something I am wearing, I can never enjoy wearing that piece again. When we were dating, I would have never knowingly worn an outfit on a date that he disliked, and I don't think that should change now that we are married.
"That's very classy" is what he says when something's a keeper.
p.s. The sweater in the picture above went back to the store. I loved it and it made me feel pretty at five months pregnant, but Michael didn't like it. It was too bedazzled for him (the sleeves had little pearls stitched on). Oh well.
