A couple of years ago I read that personal photographs (of family or friends) are not supposed to be displayed in the areas of your home where you would entertain company. At the time I didn't think much of it; however, recently I framed three pictures and I couldn't bring myself to hang them anywhere but our bedroom.
I have been in homes where I've enjoyed looking at other's family pictures on the wall, but last month I was in a home where multiple framed photos were on every single surface and available wall space. It somehow made me rather uncomfortable, all those unfamiliar faces looking at me everywhere I went!
So for now I think I am going to follow this silly rule and display family photos in bedrooms or in other non-entertaining areas. Although, one exception I am making to this rule is that I will continue to keep our lovely wedding album on the coffee table.
What do you think? Do you love photographs of family and friends all over your home? Do you have a fridge full of pictures? Or do you have a select few that you keep in your bedroom, perhaps on a night stand?
p.s. If you have personal photographs hanging in your home or placed on tables and shelves, I promise not to judge you if you were to have me over : ) This all comes down to one's own preference! And as the saying goes, everything in moderation.
The pictures in our bedroom were taken by the wonderfully talented Justin DeMutiis.
